Indigo Fitzgerald thinks your problems are too small for her.
Too small?
Unimportant?
No way.
Vote Manning Sinclair!
Indigoâs knees buckled. Camila caught her before she dropped to the floor, her hand over her mouth. Later on, Camila would tell her she wasnât making a sound, but in her head, she was screaming as though sheâd been stabbed.
In the back.
Chapter 14
The Bet
Somehow, Indigo managed to get through the rest of the school day, although she couldnât remember a single thing any of her teachers said. After her last class finally ended, she headed to the art room. Abbie had decided that Indigo needed to freshen up her campaign, so they were supposed to be making new posters.
But not even Abbie was here yet, so Indigo sat down on top of a table and pulled out the plastic sandwich bag where she was keeping Idaâs letters safe. The letters about the Curve were like a loose tooth she couldnât stop wiggling; sheâd read them several times now, reliving every single one of the horrific details.
Belkin must think of Weldon as âdisreputable,â which was why he kept sending him to detention even when Weldon hadnât done anything wrong. Belkin also obviously couldnât tell the difference between an eighth grader and a fully grown person, or maybe he wasnât trying.
When she finished, Abbie still hadnât arrived. Indigo tucked the letter back into her backpack and pulled out her phone, tapping out a text to Manning.
